Prevent Background Scan of External Drive - possible ?

I use a few external drives to backup stuff

When I connect them, CIS automatically starts probing them

In doing so, it eats tons of resources and bogs down the machine to the point of becoming un-usable

Is it possible to prevent auto scanning of the external drives, but still allow me to run manual scans of those drives when I want?

Add the external drive to the exclusions maybe? ie G:/*

External media is always considered untrusted by design. Therefore, impossible to exclude.

There has been some discussion that there really is no need for a blanket distrust situation if CIS is using file hashes to recognize files. So hopefully version 6 will no longer have this design restriction.
