Earlier this year (2011), Comodo, changed its software downloads such that every download is a combined 32-bit/64-bit download. Upon installation, the correct version (32-bit or 64-bit) is installed based upon the computer’s operating system. Previously, Comodo used to offer standalone 32-bit and 64-bit installers for each of its products. Would Comodo please return to this practice and offer 32-bit and 64-bit installers for each product? Those of us with a slow Internet connection would benefit greatly! For example, the combined 32-bit/64-bit download for Comodo Internet Security is 60 MB while the 32-bit standalone version of Comodo Internet Security is 34 MB.
Update on December 30, 2011: I finally located a spot on the COMODO domain that offers users a choice of installers: 32-bit/ 64-bit Windows installer; a 32-bit installer; and a 64-bit installer. This can be found at the http://personalfirewall.comodo.com. Previously, I had gone to the primary COMODO website, http://www.comodo.com and navigated through free products, home & home office solutions, internet security, and free download. Going this route, only the combined 32-bit/64-bit download is offered. I understand why COMODO made this decision - with the transition to Windows 7, and most likely 64-bit Windows 7, more and more users (possibly over 50% now) need the 64-bit installer. Also, the combined installer is applicable for all potential users, i.e. those on Windows XP (almost exclusively 32-bit installs), Vista (some 64-bit installs, most 32-bit installs), and Windows 7 (majority are 64-bit installs, some 32-bit installs).
