Visited grc.com, system’s first 1056 ports were checked and:
Solicited TCP Packets: PASSED
Unsolicited Packets: PASSED
However, “Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet…”
As I have very limited understanding of the matter with the exception of the phrase “Failed” and “Visible”, based on YOUR expert opinion(s) how do I approach the situation and address the issue?
I thank you in advance
If your computer is behind a router, the GRC test will be probing the router instead of your software firewall.
If you have stealthed your ports to everyone in the Stealth Ports Wizard, you’re good to go. This way, if someone gets past your router, they still need to get past your software firewall.
HeffeD, Thanks for the information and precise clarification while keeping MY level of understanding in mind. Truly appreciated and thank you.
if your router has a firewall you can make sure it has a rule to block ICMP echo requests, then it will pass the GRC test
