It does not matter what some reviews say… If you build a good product they will come. In the end users are the best reviewers.
If you take a ferrari and put it on the off road test, of course it will do badly Horses for courses! CIS is a new kind of Anti Malware product that needs to be tested accordingly.
now check this out:
http://www.amtso.org/amtso-testing-guidelines.html
“As anti-malware solutions become more complex, many existing tests are unable to evaluate product effectiveness properly, resulting in product reviews that are sometimes incomplete, inaccurate and misleading. The adoption of standards and guidelines is the first stage in an initiative in which members of the industry are collaborating with testers, reviewers and the media in the production of advice that will help customers make better-informed buying decisions.”
And the members…which includes AV-Test.org that PC world relied upon.

I think its time PC World adopted the AMTSO guidelines as the whole industry not only created this guideline but also adopted it. No point in continuing with 25 year old testing method. Time for AMTSO Compliant Dynamic Testing so that true power of this beast can be shown to the world

I agree with you on all points except that…if Comodo sent them a cease and desist letter…well then people would start blogging and etc about how Comodo is trying to remove any negative reviews about itself.
Then Comodo would have an even worse rep. (It already doesn’t have a good one from the Softpedia and webpage signing affairs, even if the details were wrong.)

Hi:
It seems pc-world has given a negative and bad review about comodo internet security specialy about its malware detection? Anyone care to add why is that? Should I be using another anti-malware software instead of CIS? I am currently using only CIS and its antivirus to scan my pcs. Thanks in advance.
Here is the link to the review: http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/290845/review/internet_security.html
CIS has a good enough antimalware scanner.Yes, a bit more false positives, but comodo team works hard to reduce them. There’s nothing to worry about.:))
Well, I think the positioning of PCWorld is quite clear. When you enter their website what is the very first thing you encounter? An advertisement of course. A big animated one, that fills the screen. You must wait for it to end. Therefore you must look at it. In short, money, first and foremost. PCWorld makes its money from paid ads, from hardware and software vendors that also are in the paid world. An organization like Comodo is not likely to place too many ads in PCWorld since a lot of Comodo products are free for all to use. It stands to reason that PCWorld will be naturally inclined to prop up their customers, and slam down competitors like Comodo. The best way to counter bad reviews like this is to closely examine their tests. If they have some points to make then Comodo should repair the problem areas. However, if the tests are not accurate, or based on shoddy testing methods, then PCWorld should be brought to task. For me, I used to use the big-name high priced security products only to not have them protect me. I use Comodo firewall and AV, and I have for some time now, and it is very rare that I see any malware infections at all. Oh, and I am not a “fanboy.” I am not a fanatic, and I haven’t been a boy for quite some time (see my name). I operate with my own freewill, so don’t accuse me of anything else, thank you.
