32K RAM, no HD, floppy, or other storage device. RAM was expandable to 64KB. Programming could be done in BASIC or Machine. “Vic” is short for “Vic 20,” a wonderful Commodore product (the little sibling of the Commodore 64)…
Tnx for the detailed report of findings on Intelliguard, that’s good to know.
Avira is good but detected several false postives in my System Restore folder area, so I stopped using it. Used AVG for awhile, didn’t like. Used Bitdefender, didn’t like. So now I’m using CAVS 2. Works fine so far.
Most of the FP issues with Avira are when the heuristic scanner is set to the highest level,on medium they are rare. However,at the high setting,it’ll pick up a lot of ‘new’ malware,so it’s a balancing act.Personally I like the added security and it’s easy enough to google the occasional file flagged up,to check its status. :■■■■
Yeah I always keep my heuristic scanners set to the default, or medium. Just to avoid that problem, Avira also caused a lot of other problems for me that I eventually had to roll back my system. I’m using CAVS now, was working fine but I’m about to uninstall it to and try PC tools I guess. I would continue to use CAVS but the HIPs component is really bad and bugged currently.
I agree,it’s best to wait for the finished version of CAVS before relying upon it. It’s risky having beta software operating at the kernel level on your main system, personally I just test them on a VM.
Everyone knows my choice (NOD 32) but its a much better idea to use an antivirus from a ‘real’ antivirus company. PC tool’s antivirus has gotten some awards for detection, but its much better to go with a more accomplished security firm. Some free choices are:
