I got a 330/340 with the Comodo suite test. No lock ups. No delays. Great HIPS. Entertainment Mode is awesome for games.

Thx. Outpost is a worthy competitor.

I didn’t know they had a recent Free version. They used to have v2 for free that was the last thing recall.

Will it work in Vista or would that be a no go as it only supports 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP?

Yes, it works on Vista. But, only 32-bit systems.

The firewall component lacks a few features, though, like excluding IPs from becoming blocked, like ISP DNS servers.

Other than that, for what I could see so far, the HOST protection component lacks nothing.

Great!

Well its free. If you want those features then get the pro version. A lot less hang ups and pop ups then Comodo and guess what…No dumb toolbar installer.

Looks very good! I will try it!

I’ll try it too.
Because version 1.0 free version always terminate itself by unknow reason.
(My computer was Malware free.)

Meantime a Vista64 version appears.
I tried it but I’m used to CIS so I guess I’ll stick with CIS for now.

This is a very nice firewall. Thanks to the auto-learn I got NO POP-UPS for now.
Still I like Comodo and will surely try the new version, but Outpost Free is a strong competitor it’s the best free firewall i tried for a while.

The x64 version is partially much better than Comodo. I informed egemen several times but I didn’t get any good answer.
Maybe you can help me with this?

Depends on what the question is

The problem is, if like the paid version, it will block communication with the outside, if your ISP communications with your system more than it should.

I don’t know if the free version allows it, but the paid version has an option to block attacks for 5 minutes, including subnets. Unless the ISP DNS IPs are excluded from being automatically blocked if certain situations are witnessed, you’ll have to unblock it manually everytime.

By excluding those IPs, you still block your ISP from doing whatever they’re doing, while still being able to communicate with the outside.

With Outpost free I was only able to achieve a score of 300/240 on the Comodo test. With Online Armor I got a 330/340. Dumped Outpost and now back to Comodo.

Now, I don’t get it… In your first post you say and I quote

What changed?

I guess I typed it in wrong. I was using the latest version of Outpost. I ran the tst on both machines and the highest score I got was a 300/340. Do it yourself if you do not believe me.

Its not a matter of not believing you. But, first you said it had 330/340 and that it is a great HIPS, and today only 300 and it sucks.

Made me wonder, that’s all.

I got 320/340.
