Outlook 2003 and CAVS

after installing both CAV and Office 2003 std ed. , my mails didnt go out. first of all i thought that it was cpw problem, when i disable it yes my mails go out, but then i tried enable cpw and disable outgoing mail scanner and everything worked fine… i guess something wrong about outgoing mail scaning…

im new 2 this forum ;D currently having cav and comodo firewall in my desktop. im using outlook2k3 and im not facing any problems ::slight_smile:

G’day and welcome the the forums.

One thing you could try is to open up Comodo Personal Firewall (CPF) and open up Outlook 2003.

  • Click on the SECURITY button at the top of the window.

Click on the APPLICATION MONITOR button on the left hand side of the window.

This should show all currently running applications, including Outlook 2003.

Do a right click on the Outlook 2003 entry and select EDIT.

In the Application Control Rule window, click on the “Miscellaneous” tab and select “Skip advanced security checks”.

Click OK.

Shut Outlook 2003 down, reopen it and try sending emails again.

This skipping of advanced security checks also needs to be done if your are using AVG to do a virus check on ingoing and outgoing emails.

Hope this helps,
Ewen
