My cousin has HP Pavilion DV4T-1500 CTO Entertainment Laptop, WIN 7 64 Home Premium Preinstalled, no OS disc was given.
I have HP Pavilion DV4T-1400 CTO Entertainment Laptop, Vista 64 Home Premium Preinstalled, got a free WIN 7 64 Home Premium Upgrade Disc from HP, did a fresh install i.e format & install & everything was smooth.
I want to know can I use this upgrade disc to reinstall i.e format & install WIN 7 on my cousins laptop?
It depends on what type of upgrade disc you have. MS W7 upgrade discs will usually perform a fresh install without any problems. But, an HP OEM disc might be different. Also to be legal, you would need to use his original key (if you don’t have a disc then it’s usually pasted onto the kit somewhere).
BTW Are you sure your cousins laptop doesn’t have a hidden partition with the W7x64 install on it? It’s fairly common for OEM systems supplied without the disc.
edit: And failing all that you can just download the whole thing from MS and use your cousins key. That should also work.
Section 2: “The software license is permanently assigned to the device with which you acquired the software. That device is the ‘licensed device.’ A hardware partition is considered to be a separate device.”
Everything is in place i.e His Windows Product Key, Recovery Manager on the drive D.
Just wanted to know. I have also googled & read in many places that any OS disc can be used to install on the same system i.e 7 64 Bit Home Premium OS disc can be used on any 7 64 Bit Home Premium, only you need the different licences i.e product key.
