I want to open some ports that will allow my Xbox One to connect to smartglass on my laptop. I am sure that I just need to open a port for it but I can not figure out how to do that it is more than slightly annoying me.
I am sure that there are instructions all over this forum that will tell me how to do it, but if someone could direct me there or tell me that would be super…I am using Comodo Internet Security Premium 6.3.301250.2972, I need to open the following:
Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
I have tried disabling Comodo firewall and when it is off Xbox One connects straight away…please help!
Considering that smartglass is a safe application,so you can add/edit smartglass’s rule with ruleset “allowed applicatioin” in the application rules dialog,or customize it’s rule only allowing the ports you want to open.
Incoming traffic goes through Global Rules first and then through Application Rules. To allow unsolicited incoming traffic you need to open a port in Global Rules.
Next step is to make an application rule to allow that traffic also. Easiest is to give the application the Allowed Application rule. When desired you can make a tighter application rule once you have a working situation established.
Read the following tutorial I made about opening a port in Global Rules. Substitute the port numbers and protocol for your situation.
To open the port TCP 1723 for example
First step is to determine the MAC or Physical address of you network connector. Go to Start → Run → cmd → enter → a black box will show up and enter the following → ipconfig /all (notice the space before /all) → enter → now look up the Physical address and write it down.
Notice that Physical address = MAC address
Advanced Settings → Firewall → Global Rules → Right click → Add → fill in the following:
Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP
Direction: In
Description: Incoming Port
Source address: Any
Destination Address: Choose MAC address and fill in the found MAC/Physical address
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: 1723
