one very annoying thing

I’m using 3.0.14.273_XP_Vista_x32 , there was a windows update, so i clicked “Switch to installation mode” in the firewall and then downloaded the update and went to install it.
but defese+ popped up a box asking if i wanted to allow it, i chose yes, but it kept on popping up constant boxes asking if i want to allow on every change that was going on.

now i find that very annoying, i had to close the firewall to do the windows update in the end then i reloaded the firewall back.

If i change proactive defense to Training Mode before any installation/update what will that do, will that allow me to do an update or install something i trust without any pop ups popping up asking me anything??

It works much better to wait until the installer causes a pop-up and then click on “Treat application as…” and select Installer for that executable. You will be asked if you want to switch to Installation Mode then, and the installer will have the necessary permissions to avoid all the pop-ups. Some install routines invoke the .msi installer from the first install routine, so you may have to designate that as an installer also to avoid a lot of pop-ups. I am not really quite sure what switching to Installation Mode does, but you need to give the install program Installer privileges to avoid the noise.

Thanks I will try the method you prescribed

“switch to installation mode” i was under the impression is suppose to do that, I’ve read quite a few posts where a couple admins maybe Melih himself said thats what “switch to installation mode” does and was the recommended way, to do that just before installing or doing an update and it would have defense+ just watch and learn without popping up any boxes asking what to do, unforutnately though that doesn’t work lol. so i will try the way you prescribe next time and i hope that works out better
