on-line update & new Protection Settings (3.0 --> 3.5.xxx.427)

Greetings all,

I decided to create new thread about on-line update despite similar thread exists already.

According to the following discussion regarding default “security rules”
https://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews/a_question_about_updating_comodo-t28571.0.html
we found that newly introduced Protection rules will be lost during the Import, therefore clean uninstall of 3.0 and install of 3.5 without Importing is recommended

Then, I was asking about Import and new Protection features here
https://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews/update_new_protection_settings_and_import-t28947.0.html
there were no answers from developers.

Since I returned to 3.0 I received first notification about availability of on-line update to 3.5.xxx.427
It seems like performing on-line update to CIS will eliminate existing import issue.
At the same time in the past when updating 3.0.xxx versions there were issues with introducing new protection features, where clean reinstall was recommended anyway.

What about this on-line update regarding new protection settings?

There are few fixes announced here
https://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews_cis/fyi_comodo_internet_security_3554375427_update-t29095.0.html

…but nothing was mentioned about new Protection Settings being applied during on-line update.
Can developers please tell us and if fresh reinstall is still recommended please add that to the announcement.

My regards

P.S.
My first clean reinstall to 3.5.xxx.424 was unsuccessful see
https://forums.comodo.com/firewall_bugs/connection_blocked_silently_by_cis-t28959.0.html
there is no replies from developers and as I see there are other question emerging regarding svchost … kinda serious stuff… that’s why I’d rather ask then have all those issues again

P.S. P.S ******* Added
I didn’t accept the update.
Few hours later after rebooting I got notification again, which is fine but this time I decided to look at the Update Details link

http://d.imagehost.org/t/0879/Comodo_427_UpdateDetails.jpg

I have allowed the auto update from Comodo FIREWALL 3.0.25.378 to CIS (FW ONLY) 3.5.54375.427 and it appears to have gone smoothly.

One major difference is that I no longer have an option to do an on demand Malware/AV scan.
Was that the intention of this update for users of the FW?

Hi MarkTrent,

My question raised here was different. I have no doubts the update will go smoothly.
So were previous updates, but sometimes it is necessary to run uninstall and clean install to get all features implemented. That’s how it was many times in the past. That was the recommendation for 3.5.xxx.424 before on-line update for for 3.5.xxx.427 came …
… and that was the point of my question.

Have you checked that all new protections mentioned in the referred threads above are in place?

The intention of the update as far as I understand is moving to CIS but users have a choice of installing (updating ) CFP only

In addition it seems like would bei be more appropriate to ask the question about AV in a separate a separate thread

My regards
