For old apps I cannot upgrade my debian 6. Latest version of mod_security found was 2.5
I have installed cwaf unfortunately it does not work (uncompanionable sec rules) 
What can I do?

We support ModSecurity v.2.7.5 and higher.
You can build this module, using it’s source code and and try to replace existing module by new one.
