Old CIS feedback and request

Hello,
I am user of CIS from Xp era, so I am still using a very old version, CIS Premium 5.8.213334.2131 - files date and version (for example) cavscan.exe 5.8.15089.2124 7-10-11 and cfpconfg.exe 5.8.16726.2131 20-10-11.
This version is very stable with my old Xp pc’s, I update it from http://download.comodo.com/av/updates58/sigs/bases/bases.cav.z for the av database.

Since I have seen here there are very kind people, reading in https://forums.comodo.com/news-announcements-feedback-cis/comodo-internet-security-v10106476-updates-released-t121361.120.html the request of the user TSS, I have a similar request, please…

I have a “new” Xp pc, the Xp is needed for old peripherals (drivers), so, basing on the above experience… can I download full offline installer of CIS especially version 5.8.213334.2131 - can You help me?
Or the last similar version (I always manually adjust every option) that should work “outstandingly” well (very stable, never a problem) as the one I have, on my enviroment, WinXp SP3 (of course quite outdated). This pc will be anyway connected only when using Firefox (52.5 version, the last for Xp).

Eventually, I have a similar request for 2 newer pc’s, quite different…
One has Win7 64bit, and was updated last probably in half 2016, will be connected using probably Firefox from 54 to 56 version, the other has Win 8.1 32 bit, updated in half 2017, and same browser: for each one, which version of CIS, maybe newer but with stability and similarity as the old one I know, can You recommend to me?

Thanks for any help / advice,
Kind Regards
R.M.

Hi RegForHelp,
We still support XP and will suggest you to try latest CIS version 10.2.0.6514.
You can find offline version on same release page.

In case you run into any problem, please let us know and we can look into.

Thanks

Hello,
as suggested, finally I had time to install that new version on Xp - it appears that install is done.
Now, as expected (if You remember the first post), there is a lot of difference from my previous version 5 and this 10 (that probably now is “old” as well…): that was the key reason to stay with the older version, working fine: not to learn and experiment with new doubts…
Because of that, I have some questions…

  • The processes (as in the task manager) from 2 now are 4, right ?

After 6/7 years, some modules appears that have new names, basically:

  • Defense+ is now HIPS ?
  • Sandbox is now “Auto-containment” ?
  • Game mode is now “silent” mode ?

Because I configured that modules as close possible as the previous ones, in particular in my v.5 the sandbox is deactivated, so I turned off the “auto-containment”, is that right ?

Not tried yet the internet connection, first I must be sure of the firewall options, they are probably the less changed.

There are also new modules, the “viruscope” is new as the last about safety of sites, I left them on as by default.

The only problem, for now, that entering Windows the main window of Cis opens in front of desktop, and the virus scan also turns on the previous: maybe because for now I never updated the definitions, and never done a scan ? This regardless of turning on/off scan types, etc.
It will stay only in tray if I will done that?
In fact the older stays in tray and never opens, even if definitions are old.
It would be quite a problem (for the person that will use that pc) to see these windows opening, it seems like an “alert”…

Apart these first impressions, no problems for now, but as I wrote the internet connection was not done for now, no new programs were installed, nearly no programs were tried to see if it reacts, apart ccleaner: I had to add it as safe, in the usual manner as in the old version.

Of course I thank You for the kindness, I hope in some answer to my initial questions, to be sure that I am configuring it well… I know there is a feature of “exporting” the configuration for both versions, it would be fine to compare them to see if they are coincident, but that long period of time between of them is probably too long to do this, probably I must do it “manually”, it is a ot of time, because now the options are often not in the same place, it is a challenge…

Hi RegForHelp,
Answers inline:

Snapshot of Task Manager will help to answer.

Yes
Because I configured that modules as close possible as the previous ones, in particular in my v.5 the sandbox is deactivated, so I turned off the "auto-containment", is that right ?
You should enable it. In latest versions it is enabled by default.
There are also new modules, the "viruscope" is new as the last about safety of sites, I left them on as by default.
You should enable it. This is behavior blocker module, by default enabled for Sandboxed apps.
The only problem, for now, that entering Windows the main window of Cis opens in front of desktop, and the virus scan also turns on the previous: maybe because for now I never updated the definitions, and never done a scan ? Perhaps you never ran scan, suggested to complete first scan.

v5 and v10 configuration may not be compatible, suggested to configure anew.
