Not sure if this is the correct forum...[RESOLVED]

but…

I just installed CIS, and my rFactor racing game has developed a small stuttering problem. It runs for 2-3 seconds, then stutters for about 1-2 seconds, 2-3 seconds run, 1-2 sec stutter, etc. I’ve tried putting Defense + & Firewall into Training mode, and have the same problem.

System Specs:

AMD Sempron 2.0 Ghz Processor
2 GB RAM
320 GB HDD (242 GB Free)
ATi Radeon 3650 w/9.4 Drivers

TIA,

Robert

Try deleting the rules for rFactor before starting the game. Then put Firewall to Safe Mode and D+ to Clean PC mode and start the game. Does the same thing happen?

EricJH,

I’m not sure where the “rules” for rFactor would be. I tried putting Defense+ into Clean PC mode and Firewall into Safe mode, that just made the stuttering worse. Totally disabling Defense+ does work, but, of course, renders my system more vulnerable.

Robert

You can find the rules under Firewall → Advanced → Nework Security Policy → Application Rules and under Defense + → Advanced → Computer Security Policy.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks for pointing out where those rules are, Eric, but unfortunately, I still had the stutter problem, even after 4-5 laps worth of game time.

Can you take a look at the logs of D+ around the time of starting your game? They can be found under Defense + → Common Tasks → View Defense + alerts. Can you post a screenshot of it?

Also try the previous Catalyst driver 9.3 and see what happens.

Try disabling D+ and see what happens. You can disable under Defense + → Advanced → Defense + settings. Remember to reboot as requested.

I said in my original post that disabling D+ seemed to work okay. I’ve posted the event log from D+, with an attempt at a circle around the rFactor entry.

Try making nFactor an exclusion for cfp.exe.

Go to Defense + → Advanced → Computer Security Policy → now look up the entry for Comodo Internet Security and select it → Edit → Protection settings → look up Interprocess Memory access and push the Modify button → now add nFactor to the exclusions list → Apply → Apply → Apply → Apply.

Does this help?

Still having stutter issues, even after making the exception.

Taskeng.exe, iexplorer.exe, trayit!.exe, dwm.exe. All these programs are also experiencing memory sharing issues with CIS. Use the same steps to add them to the same exclusion you did with rFactor.exe.

Done all that, still having stutter issues.

Haven’t heard anything since 4/18. Any more ideas/suggestions?

Have you ever tried to change all of files that related with rFactor to the Trusted in the D+?

Can take a look at the Firewall logs and see if there is anything logged regarding nFactor. Is this a game you play off line?

Is this the first time you installed Comodo Firewall or Comodo Internet Security?

EricJH,

Looked at the firewall logs - there’s nothing logged regarding rFactor - it might be because I play off-line. This is the first time I’ve installed CIS.

Yes, I’ve tried that - along with the related files for every game I play.

I am kinda stuck for other solutions. I am thinking you may have found a bug… Gonna ask the other mods to come and take a look.

Been 4 days since I last heard from anybody…Bueller? Bueller?

Please try putting both Firewall and Defense+ in “Training Mode” as per the following post for those who play games.

Eric,

Still having the same issues, even with Firewall & Defense + in “Training Mode”.
