every time i try to scan i get this messeg " update failed. antivirus engine is not initialized. what does this mean and how can i fix the problem? please help and thank you.

Can you please check your virus signature database version More / About it should be 1 or higher.
If it is 0 please follow the instructions here

Did CIS installation with any errors? If not uninstall it and clean the registries with CSC (comodo system cleaner). Before you install CIS right-click on it, select properties unlock it and then go to compability and choose run as adim.

P.S If you are running Windows firewall disable it
