I’ve just downloaded Comodo Backup v.3.0.171317.130 and am attempting to setup my first backup. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. However, when i get to Step 2: Backup Destination none of my disks are shown and I get a “No Viable Destination Disks found for the selected item” error message.
Specifically, I want to backup to a network drive that I have full privileges to and can access in every other way. I’ve also tried mapping the network drive, but Comodo Backup still doesn’t see it. This won’t be a very useful program if I can’t backup my files to anywhere… ???
We are assuming that you are trying to perform a clone disk/partition operation for your disk, that’s why the error is encountered. Please check the online help, backup format section: “clone disk/partition”, for more details Comodo Help .
You should use the .cbu format instead, this way you will be able to select the desired location to save the backup file.
Thanks for the quick response, Ilona. I think I see the problem. To be precise, I’m trying to create a full backup of the data on my disks in their original format to my network drive, not necessarily make an exact clone of the ENTIRE disk (empty space and all).
So, it looks like I should be making a “Simple Copy” of the data on each disk to start with, followed by regularly scheduled “Synch Copy” to keep my network copy up to date with the original. Right?
I’m going to give it a shot and I’ll let you know how it goes. Merry Christmas!
