"New Network Detected" popup window question...

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this post and share your expertise…

  1. After an install of CFP and a reboot of my laptop, the pop-up window showing “New Network Detected” comes up, detecting a wireless network hosted by my place of work.

  2. I give the network a name, allow access and press “OK”.

  3. I can usually surf the internet for a while, maybe even go through a period of multiple sessions of internet use without a problem (including powering down the laptop & powering up again), and then the following occurs:

-the “New Network Detected” window pops up AGAIN, asking me to give a name to the wireless network (the network that I have already named)…

-I try to give the network the same name and allow access, but it says that the name is already taken…

-Lastly and most importantly, at this point, I also lose my ability to connect to the wireless network that I have already allowed access to in the first place (no matter what action I take) the first time the “New Network Detected” window popped up…

CFP seems to be detecting the same network multiple times, and usually the second time it detects the network, I am no longer able to connect to the internet…any help you guys could give is GREATLY appreciated!!!

i get this twice for windows vista, once for regular connection with internet access, then again after i resume from standby because my connection is not connected to the net for about 10 seconds so it recognises it as a different connection, so i just call the second one “network name - local”

Greetings!

If it’s the same network (same IP-range), open CFP 3 and go to MiscellaneousSettings and clear the box next to Automatically detect new private networks.
There’s no need to have this feature on if your network already has been detected.
However, you might want to turn this feature on if you’re on another wireless network than your home network, so that CFP 3 can detect that network too.
