Hi Everybody

Have just installed comodo firewall and am a little confused.

On the summary it says that ‘the defense+security level is set to inactive’ even though it claims to have ‘blocked 1 suspicious attempt so far’

I’m a proper novice - and the ‘inactive’ bit is worrying me. Should I not want to mess with anything fancy and just plod through an easy life is this ‘inactive’ thing OK?

If I go into defence+ > advanced > defence+ settings the cursor is set at ‘clean pc mode’
the first box is checked ‘trust applications…etc’
the second box is unchecked ‘block all unknown…etc’
the third box is checked ‘deactivate the defence+ permanently…etc’

I think it’s that third box which makes me feel uncomfortable.

If I could be reassured all is well I would be grateful

G’day and welcome to the forums.

If you uncheck the third box, Defense+ will be activated. In doing so, you should start getting pop-ups about applications trying to do different things. The pop-up will contain some info about what is trying to do something and whether this is generally a good thing or a bad thing.

Everyone needs a little help to get started with a real firewall, so dont worry about it. And enjoy the forum. :wink:

A little tip after activating d+ is to run all your common programs straight away.This will get most of the pop ups out of the way early.
