Hi
I’m just setting up my Netgear EVA700 but when I switch Comodo off the Netgear works fine. Switch Comodo on and I can no longer browse my folders via the Netgear.
It works via Windows Media Centre. There is a file called WMPNETWK.EXE in the applications monitor which is allowed in and outbound, any port, any destination.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Welcome Giffer,
I went and looked at the manual online and it gives all of the ports that you need to open for it to function thru a firewall starting on page 5.2. It should also be able to obtain an IP address of it’s own thru DHCP.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The Manual
If you are using Windows Media Connect and the built-in Windows firewall, the firewall automatically opens the ports needed to communicate with the digital entertainer. For other firewalls, you might need to open the following ports:
ProtocolPorts
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) 2869, 10243
User Datagram Protocol (UDP) 1900, 10280, 10281, 10282, 10283, 10284
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I am guessing that the ports have to be allowed IN but your firewall log should show what is being blocked for sure. Try allowing the ports in first to see if it gets an IP Address.
The rules would look something like this. Add these rules at the very top of your list so you will be sure they are checked first.
TO ADD NEW RULES:
Security>Network Monitor
Left-click on top rule in list to highlight row
Right-click and choose “Add Rule”
Choose “Add Before”
Allow—Log
TCP
IN
Source IP: Any
Destination IP: Any
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: Choose “A set of ports”: 2869, 10243
Allow—Log
UDP
IN
Source IP: Any
Destination IP: Any
Source Port: Any
Destination Port: Choose “A set of ports”: 1900, 10280, 10281, 10282, 10283, 10284
This should get you started then you can check the log to see if you need to work on anything else or not.
Please post back so we know if you got it working or not and we will go from there if something else needs to be done.
