My Own Safe Files not showing My Programs Folder[Solved]

Hi guys, I wanted to add an executable from My Programs folder but it doesn’t even display under My Computer so I couldn’t add it that way I had to let the Antivirus catch it and only then was I able to add the executable in question to My Own Safe Files via the drop down accessible via the ignore button. I used to be able to add a program executable via My Own Safe Files but seems that is no longer an option now.
Please look into this matter

Make sure Windows is set to show system files and folders.

Thanks in advance

I just mentioned the way to see hidden / system files, bcoz you asked for it. That’s all.

To solve your problem, I think you just have to minimize that Control Panel tab (click on the (-) sign beside control panel) and you should see c & d drives there. Navigate to c:\programfiles____ folder

Select the executable click on → arrow

and you should be done with it.

(For seeing normal executables, AFAIK, you need not enable view hidden / system files)

Thanks again Layman, at work now will check out your suggestion once back home :-TU

Hi Layman, clicking - sign next to control panel & scrolling further down still doesn’t display all the pertinent folders example My Programs, Windows etc…that should display under My Computer only the Control Panel elements appear when clicking My Computer along with Network Folders I just can’t figure this one out ???
I’m hoping that I won’t have to uninstall .509 to reinstall it again but I’ll do it if necessary since this feature used to work with older versions of CIS 3.5, 3.8
Bad trip though >:(
Regards (BTW Panic where are you dude when I need you?) ;D
Xman :frowning:

Hey Xman, I don’t think you need to uninstall 3.9. I tried it in my computer, and I was able to successfully add it using 3.9, so I doubt it is a bug with 3.9.

Can you show a screen shot after minimizing control panel (not my computer)? In my computer I can see almost all the things in your screen shot when Control Panel is maximized, but when you click that (-) button, My computer shows - Control Panel, My Documents, Shared Documents, C drive and D drive.

I would like to remind you that only My Computer should have a (-) sign beside it and all the other sub-directories should have (+) sign beside it.

Even with that (-) sign near Control Panel, when you slide (scroll) down, you should see C, D & other drives in normal circumstances.

Hi Layman, take a look…BTW I did clean uninstall and reinstall the problem persists no C: no D: nothing other than what you’re seeing My Documents expands O.K. to view the folders within. Still can’t figure it out ??? ???

Can you check this out?

Thanks for your time Layman, but seems I won’t find out why My Own Safe Files is not displaying my C: drive under my computer, look at attached disk management shot everything seems in order, I guess I might have to wait for V4.0 to see if that corrects this problem

I am almost lost in this case without much clue. Just one doubt. Can you see c drive using other interface of CIS viz. Firewall-Define new blocked application, Miscellaneous-Submit Suspicious Files, Defense±My Blocked files etc.

I this the firewall - define new blocked application uses a separate feature as its visual is different from others. Just check it out. I also wish it is solved in CIS 4, as I have no more suggestions.

Can see my C: drive and all other Folders under My Computer in Define a New Trusted Application under common tasks under Firewall tab but not when trying to add in Defense Plus with My Own Safe Files I’m beginning to believe this may be registry error related maybe a Dev could look further into this and guide me to the particular registry entry to correct this occurrence…

Edit, just discovered that this seems to be the same scenario for My Blocked Files also in Defense Plus… ???
See attachment…

Edit, even after an advanced Revo uninstall, reboot and a clean reinstall problem persists, this is not practical at all… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi all, I finally resolved my problem by uninstalling CIS, doing a registry clean followed by a full cleanup up of ALL Comodo instances using Regedit (including all legacy entries) rebooted reinstalled CIS on my XP home SP3 32 bit and everything works perfectly now!
Success at last, see attached, thanks to all who tried however
