I am trying to download files from a pretty reputable site (Daz 3D) and on many of the files (bought and paid for) I am getting continuous calls on a claimed piece of malware, to the point where downloading just becomes impractical…
The malware is Packed.Win.MUPX.Gen[at]129019204. Scanning through here I see that this may be quite a nasty piece of work. However it seems strange that these files should be as infected as Comodo is saying and the company has not been made aware of it.
I will go to the company and tell them what is happening. However I did read a thread here that this malware had been a false positive, which had supposedly been fixed. So I do not want to make trouble unnecessarily.
Unfortunately I can’t submit the file as I do not have it. It is made up of literally hundreds of smaller files, I think, so I am getting a malware alert every second after I go past the previous one. It just bogs down and I have to give up. If I try to clean it the download disconnects.
I will try to find a smaller one that has fewer files embedded.
OK. In the end I used the Ignore-> Add to exclusions option and d/l’d a file.
When I ran a Comodo scan over it, it came up clean. Now I am not sure if that’s because I added to exclusions. If so, how do I unexclude the supposed malware to check again?
