Microsoft Updates [Resolved]

Since installing Comodo Firewall I can’t update Microsoft. They tell me to add the following urls to my Firewall exceptions list:

How do I do this?

I’ve split this question out into its own topic, so we can better address it.

Soya’s given you some good links to review. While you’re doing that, here’s a couple things to keep in mind…

MS has basically given you instructions for their firewall; CFP doesn’t work that way. In the FAQ link Soya listed is an article on CFP’s layered rules, that may be beneficial to understanding the flow of traffic with this FW.

By default, you should be okay. This is to say, if you haven’t made any changes to the six default Network Monitor rules, you have not disabled Comodo’s application Safelist (Security/Advanced/Miscellaneous/Do not show alerts for applications certified by Comodo), and you have not in some way blocked svchost.exe from internet access. MS Updater uses svchost.exe to contact the update site and download/install the updates, using standard internet communication protocols, and these things are all allowed by an Automatic install (as opposed to Manual).

If it’s not working, something has been changed or there was a faulty install due to software (or other) conflict. If those links don’t help you resolve it, we will dig a little deeper.

We are here to help.

I am having the same problem, thanks for asking the question and thanks to Soya and LittleMac for the answers/explanations.

You’re welcome.
