Hello all, im new here and would like to say a quick hello. Im also here though because i need some help. I cant seem to sign into my new msn messenger. I can on my old one but not on the latest version. It says there is an error and it must close and does so. Any ideas on how i may fix this?and what is causeing it? Ive also tried all the tips from the msn help tab, so anything else that may work is greatly appreciated:)

Greetings and welcome to the forums!

What version are the old one, and what version are the new one?
Also, did you download the newer one from the official site? If not, try downloading it from http://get.live.com/messenger/overview and re-install it.
If you did, try re-install it anyways. If it doesn’t help, what other softwares do you run when you start WLM? Doubt there’s a conflict, but you can never be sure.

Actually I did redownload it from the msn page. I dont think other programs run start with the messenger if thats what ur asking. Also can one of ur contacts put some kind of block on it? The weird thing is and this makes me so mad is that its only on this computer it recently stopped running. On the other one it works fine

I was asking what other softwares you run(both things you can access thru the traybar applications like Firefox, Internet, WordPad…

If they’re hackers, they could block access from your computer to connect to the Internet thru WLM, but then you wouldn’t get an error telling you that WLM needs to shutdown.
All tools on the Internet that is supposed to make people unable to log in to WLM is keyloggers or trojans.

If you want I can send you WLM 9 BETA so you can try and see if it works for you.

I dont run anyother programs in the tray besides the status of ur network.

Maybe, since it seems you only got the problem with 8.5, it might be a version-specific problem for you. I’ll PM it to you.
