[merged topic]CIS feedback

Well since Firewall Rules doesn’t specify Global Rules or Application Rules I will assume it means both, in that assumption I am not done with my rules either, since the application rules change whenever something new is trying to access the Internet… so really I will never be done with my rules.

I don’t know what you mean. Are you talking about pop ups of the firewall?

I don't quite understand. Can you rephrase and use an example?

Ehh… I don’t really know how to make it clearer. It was in response to the three comments above mine. Basically Tony Cole mentioned firewall rules, but didn’t specify if he meant the Global firewall rules or the Application firewall rules, and it occurs to me now that he might also have meant the settings.

Since I wasn’t sure which of the rules he were talking about I assumed that the “Firewall rules” was a word used to include both the global rules and the application rules. And then I went on to say that in that case I wasn’t done with my rules either because when something new is trying to connect to the Internet, I will have to make a rule for it, an application rule to be exact though yes I do this trough the pop up, unless that application needs more “in-depth” rules.

For example if I download a new browser and then start using it, then I will get a pop-up and I will need to answer it in order to create a rule for the browser and hence my firewall rules are never done since every new application will need further rules. I really don’t know how to explain it better…

Thats how a firewall works like it should. You have control.
Or you want automatism.

Use global rules to get rid of not needed questions/unrequested attempts.
And for specific exceptions of those blocks, if needed.

I’d like to point out for others that comodo firewall 6 dosen’t co exist with stardock windowblinds last version.

I’ve not tried to install comodo after windowblinds but the opposite results in an instant explorer crash and any following application launched crashes too.
Stardock support replied to me that the’ve seen it and suggested me to uninstall comodo : I’ve got back my usual skin to work.

So I guess, I’m back to firewall V5.xx…

This may be worth a bug report.

If you have the time and energy please consider filing a bug report in the Bug Reports - CIS board following the format as described in FORMAT & GUIDE - just COPY/PASTE it!.

Reporting of bugs is strictly moderated to make sure Comodo gets clear bug reports. So, please make sure you closely follow protocol. That way your report will certainly be seen by Comodo staff.

Hello, short on time, but I support Comodo and I wanted to leave my feedback.

With the new version of Comodo (new UI, etc), I am having incredible difficulty using my computer for every-day tasks. The quarantine is constantly deleting things without asking for permission, programs are getting blocked and firewalled even when the firewall is disabled, and nothing in the program is even telling me what it’s doing.

In the last version of the UI, I could clearly click on numbers to see what items have been sandboxed or quarantined to easily say “no no, let this go free.” and that’d be the end of it. But now, I have chosen to uninstall CIS to make my life easier.

I am sorry but I cannot support the dumbed-down version of this application. Better luck next time, friends =(

edit:

Oh wow, I uninstalled CIS and now the PC is completely unable to connect to the internet. My adapter is totally messed up somehow. Very impressive. I’m sure I won’t have any need to return now. Good luck, you’re really going to need it.

edit:

Oh I see, my DNS server setting is left blank after I uninstalled. SERIOUSLY? Do you guys expect a non-experienced person to realize that’s why their internet suddenly doesn’t work? Because their DNS setting is set to use blank addresses? Come ON.

TartarusMkII, I merged your topic in an already existing topic with similar comments.

Good to hear that dns servers are removed if you choosed comodos dns, and uninstall the product.

If you type in a wrong one, your old entry is also lost. Just saying.
