Mapping a Network Drive on a XP machine via VPN to a Win2K3 server

I can map a network drive to a specific server, but it seems to take an extremely long time for authentication and the actual mapping of the drive. I do have trusted networks setup for this subnet. Replies in advance are appreciated.

VPNs, by their nature, introduce an overhead on all transmissions and this is very noticeable on remote network traversal operations like drive mapping, due to the constant back and forth chatter during the discovery process. I’ve noticed this on several VPN connections (both CFP and non-CFP), particularly the IBM SSL VPN solution.

I don’t know of any software method to acceleratethis.

It gives you time to grab another coffee.
