I found Launchpad to be cumbersome so I removed it. Now I ned to manually launch antivirus but I am unsure which executable I should use - and since there is no tray icon I’m not certain it is running or how to change settings.

CAVS beta 2 is isolated from Launchpad. You can download CAVS beta 2.0 from comodo site to install. CAVS beta 2 has got new features and much improved from CAVS beta 1.1
You can uninstall CAV 1.1 and then install CAVS beta 2.0.
