Malware with new hardware

I read about this a few months back, but not heard much as for as response goes.

Again this link is from a Kim Kommando news letter and does contain an ad.

CIS in most instances should be able to detect this malware, but how can imbedded malware in hardware be removed ?

Has anyone else heard any new information on this?
