Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog

I am running Vista Business. I just installed Comodo Firewall version 3. The installation seemed to run without incident. Until reboot.

After reboot, Vista stopped responding while the busy icon flashed for a long enough time to get to this forum, search, and read several posts.

It then returned a message box with the title “Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog”, a red “X” followed by the message “Failure - Security Options” and an “OK” button.

This happened several times and then Vista appeared to have started. I began to get a number of Comodo notifications and was running okay until I attempted to start my Sprint WWAN.

The computer locked up again. Either due to the Sprint (Novatel) application or due to my attempting to start Task Manager with Ctl-Alt-Del (my money is on the later) I got the error box again.

All this time the, judging from the fan speed, the processor was in overdrive.

I was running BOClean and Avast AntiVirus. After shutting down BOClean the problem seemed to go away (at least for the last few minutes).

My Firewall setting is “Train with Safe Mode” and Defense + is set to “Clean PC Mode”.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

Any suggestions?

The simplest way to deal with this kind of trouble is to put the Firewall into Training Mode for a few days. (I am assuming that you have turned off the Vista firewall)
Click Firewall>Advanced>Firewall Behaviour Settings>and set the slider to Training Mode. Then click Defense+>Advanced>Defense+ Settings> and set it to Training Mode also. This mode assumes that the software on your system is safe and generates rules accordingly. You should switch to a more aggressive mode once the initial few days pass. As for BOClean, you will have to use the BOC Excluder and put the CFP exe files on it. Add all the files that have the shield icon and cfpagent as well (5 on my system). Otherwise, cfp will complain when BOC tries to examine the processes in memory.
