Log in recommendation

When logging into the forums, I would like to see the forum software changed so that a user stays on the same page he or she was on prior to logging in.

Does that make sense?

Often I will be reading the forums and I have navigated to a place where I would like to respond, so I then log in and I get swept away from that place and have to find it all over again.

It’s not a huge deal, but it sure is a nice way for a forum to be.

Thanks if you would consider this change. 8)

Hey there (:WAV),

Well that’s out of Comodo’s hands. Comodo’s forum is based on Simple Machines. If you want it, you will need to ask it there I’m afraid.

See you,

Xan

Thanks for the reply… but I fail to see how it is “out of Comodo’s hands”. They may not be the devs of the forum software, but as a major customer, they certainly have more pull than I do when it comes to requesting a change.

Unfortunately, it seems obvious that this is a minor hassle I’ll just have to live with. I just thought I’d take the time to make a suggestion I think would improve the forum navigation.

If Comodo wants to declare that it is out of their hands, then why should I give a ■■■■, right?

G’day,

While I like your idea, and have seen it implemented on other forums (not SMF powered ones, though), it really is up to SMF to produce the mod, or someone else to produce it and submit it to SMF for verification.

Given that SMF (Simple Machines Forum) is free and open source, and there are no commercial arrangements between Comodo and SMF.ORG, Comodo’s ideas would carry no more weight than any one else’s ideas.

Having said that, it is a good idea and you should forward it to SMF.

Cheers,
Ewen

Thanks for that clarification. I’ll will just continue on as I have been doing. I’ve probably spent more time now on posting this topic than I ever will dealing with the cumbersome navigation I was complaining about. If anyone else reads this and would care to submit the suggestion, so be it.
