WOT is community based, which means its users are the ones making the decisions. And from what I’ve seen, most of the users don’t even understand what they’re seeing.
I would trust an actual page scanner above a community rating any day of the week…
While I do find the overall ratings for WOT to be a bit shaky (meaning you can’t always trust them), I do find that the comments give you a good idea of whether the site is safe or not.
The concept of WOT was innovative and would have risen to greater heights if it was moderated. Perhaps a community-based web/file reputation scanner properly moderated with relevant information is a better idea. Just a thought.
