Lavasoft Ad-Aware Pro

If I’m wrong please correct me, doesn’t their Lavasoft internet security use “privatefirewall” for the firewall

You could probably create your own lavasoft internet security

  1. Get “privatefirewall” <—it’s free from the website
    www.privacyware.com/personal_firewall.html

  2. I think they use “Vipre” for real-time virus protection (I’m not sure if they use more then one engine)
    http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/home-home-office/vipre/

I’m sorry but Ad-ware is junk ware IMO i can’t believe other’s would even take it as an option… free version uses lavasofts ■■■■■■ av the pro uses vipre… Anyway thank’s for letting us know about the offer i’m sure it’s better than mcafee.

Somebody said Lavasoft used GData engine or they change to Vipre engine?

Now I have.
Norman Security Suite 3 Years - From Fujitsu Promotion (I’ve heard about this news from Raymond.cc blog)
Kingsoft Internet Security 1 Years - From my Local reseller event
BitDefender Internet Security 3 years - From local reseller World Cup event.
Avast Internet Security 1 Years - From their Facebook Xmas Event.

So I’ll not practice this event.

Lavasoft now use the Vipre engine, previous versions used the avira engine. Believe me if Ad-Aware had the G Data engine then I would be on it like a cat on a mouse.

Why did you get this many?

Anyone knows how effective Ad-Aware Pro protects our computer? I have tried to information about it but seem like this software is not popular…don’t have many experts to test it

Languy has some videos on Ad-Aware.

If you can't find any independent reviews on Ad-Aware Pro, try finding a independent reviews for Vipre AV (Since Ad-Aware is using Vipre, I can't imagine it being much different)

Thanks…
For your information, Ad Aware Pro doesn’t detect or block the eicar test file in zip format when we test it using firefox browser or google chrome browser. I have to use Ad Aware to scan my computer in order to detect it.

However, It able to detect and block all eicar test files when I was using IE to test. It is quite silly and we can see the big difference between their protection towards IE browser and other browsers.

Maybe it is really not a good security software because I found so many negative comments towards it.

I never used it, I'll never ditch CIS just to try something else. But if AdAware PRO has alot of negative comments, then all I have to say is "The people have spoken" :o

The first thing that popped up in my heads was The quality of protection based on what browser you used!! That gave me a good chuckle THANKS!! :-TU

The way I see it is this, Just because some Software Vendor offers a paid product for free for a year to lure you in, that doesn’t mean you should lower your protection for the year, just because it’ll be free for the year
