Don 't know if it’s the right section to post, but after I updated CIS database to version 2783, seems that the antivirus does not detect eicar test anymore. ???
Can anybody test it please ?
Same here, nothing wrong with the test file
Im looking into it.
Hi guys,
This has been fixed and next AV update should see it resolved.
V2781 update caused it not to detect.
Thanks for notifying.
Thanks

lol eicar ,sry but this “testfile” is totally nonsense…
this file is harmless (virus simulation code) ,cis works correct when no reaction comes… not an real threat
Yes, the Eicar files aren’t a security risk, but I find this quite worrisome… :o
What other detections are getting dropped that we don’t know about? ???
I mean seriously, what gives? First we get updates that cripple our CPUs, and now updates that drop protection for who knows what? >:(
Not very encouraging Comodo… :-[
Same problem with DB 2788
… and with 2789…
2790 detects it.

I agree: eicar is totally harmless, but how can we know if Comodo will miss some nasty samples?
The test file let you know that your AV is actually working
I don’t think you understand the concern…
Yes, the test file lets you know if your AV is working. And it wasn’t… It’s currently fixed again, but what sort of assurance do we have that other files aren’t getting dropped? Eicar is harmless, but what if koobface slips passed because of a ■■■■■■■ up AV database update? ???
I’d really like to hear from the developers on this, because I see this as a very serious issue! An AV is something you need to have confidence in, and quite frankly, my confidence in Comodo has taken some serious hits in the last few weeks…
It is the test file let you know that there is problem(s) in the AV database update.
I don’t see any conflict of my statement with your concern.
What he means is, If it happened to eicar - How many others are affected right now?
Who knows…
I know his meaning. That why I says there is no conflict between his concerns and my statement.
By the way, regarding to sequences of faults of CIS AV for recent weeks, I really encourage the development team review the quality assurance process for release of virus signature database updates.
Melih appologised and said they put extra measures in place so that it would never happen again. (That was the 99% cpu issue)
Though now as reported the eicar was failed to detect… I’m not sure how effective those extra measures are…
