i THINK i AM EXPERIENCING THIS ALSO -
When NOT logged into the internet I see the internet icon ACTIVE, and when I click on details is se THOUSANDS of PACKETS both SENT & RECV.
I STRONGLY FEEL THIS IS A SPYWARE SNIFFER APP TRYING TO SCAN AND DOWNLOAD ALL MY HARD DRIVE FILES.

You can install CCE and do a scan with it. CCE also comes with KillSwitch, so you can check active processes and determine are there any malicious or not.
Other tools you can use to check whether your PC is infected:
MBAM
SUPERAntiSpyware
Hitman Pro
Report back with the results.
Can you post a screenshot of the firewall logs? The logs are under Firewall → View Firewall Events.

Although there is a solution, 
put the computer in a room that blocks electromagnetic radiation from leaving the room >:-D
To my defense, that post of mine is more than two years old. I was a complete beginner to computer security at that time! ;D
