A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)
[ol]- If U can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what U did & what happened: 1: Set your real computer to use the German keyboard layout. 2: Start the Virtual Desktop. 3: Inside the Virtual Desktop start Comodo Dragon. 4: Now open a site which asks you to enter an email address (such as yahoo.mail) 5: Note that if you use the keyboard shortcuts ALT GR + Q / CTRL + ALT + Q (which are for the [at] sign in emails) the Virtual Desktop automatically closes.
If not obvious, what U expected to happen:
If a keyboard shortcut is for an [at] sign it should not also be used to close the Virtual Desktop.
If a software compatibility problem have U tried the conflict FAQ?:
Not a software compatibility problem.
Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:
No
Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how U tried to fix it etc:
german keyboard layout- close, us layout- success. german layout is Alt Gr + Q, us is shift 2. This may be due to a shortcut which was added to the Virtual Desktop to close it. However, this should not be used if it is already used for the [at] sign.
[/ol]
B. YOUR SETUP
[ol]- Exact CIS version & configuration:
CIS 7.0.315459.4132
Have U made any other changes to the default config? (egs here.):
HIPS- enabled
Have U updated (without uninstall) from CIS 5 or CIS6?:
yes, CIS 6 to CIS 7 auto update
[li]if so, have U tried a a clean reinstall - if not please do?:
yes, no success
[/li]- Have U imported a config from a previous version of CIS:
no
[li]if so, have U tried a standard config - if not please do:
yes, no success
[/li]- OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, V.Machine used:
Win7 Pro SP1 x64, UAC enabled, Admin account, no V.Machine
Other security/s’box software a) currently installed b) installed since OS, including initial trial security software included with system:
Malwarebytes AntiMalware, Malwarebytes AntiExploit, Hitman Pro, Hitman Pro Alert
[/ol]
So are these the steps which the devs can follow to reproduce this issue?
Set your real computer to use the German keyboard layout.
Start the Virtual Desktop.
Inside the Virtual Desktop start Comodo Dragon.
Now open a site which asks you to enter an email address.
Note that as soon as you finish typing the email address and click to continue the Virtual Desktop immediately closes.
Is that correct? Also, if it is can you please provide a site which you have specifically noticed that this happens for?
Also, please attach a diagnostics report and a KillSwitch Process list to your first post. If you have any questions about how to do that please feel free to ask.
I can´t enter my email adress, because i can´t enter the (at) sign. If i try to enter the sign, using Alt Gr+ Q the virtual desktop closes, dragon, too.
yahoo.mail, bloomerg.com, zacks.com, e.g
I also have this problem on a second machine, and a user in the german forum, too.
Just tested it and I can confirm that pressing ALT GR + Q will instantly terminate Virtual Desktop. I’m guessing Virtual Desktop has CTRL + ALT + Q / ALT GR + Q as a quick quit options.
My system is using Swedish keyboard layout, this layout does not have anything on the ALT GR + Q combination, it’s just nothingness, it still closes the Virtual Desktop.
[ol]- Open Virtual Desktop
Click ALT GR + Q or CTRL + ALT + Q
Virtual Desktop is immediately closed/terminated[/ol]
While I do believe this was intended behavior, as a quick way to terminate Virtual Desktop using the keyboard, it doesn’t seem well thought-through considering the German layout has @ at ALT GR + Q so while I do believe this isn’t a bug but a logical misstep by the developers, I do believe it should still be submitted as a bug in order for the developers to become aware of it.
What are those shortcuts supposed to do? Sorry, I do not use shortcuts such as that, and I want to make sure I put this together correctly for the bug report.
… It was said several times? On a German keyboard layout ALT GR + Q / CTRL + ALT + Q = The @ sign you see in e-mails… However it seems that it is also the Quick Kill/Panic Button/Terminate shortcut for Virtual Desktop, so whenever you try to do the @ sign on a German keyboard layout it will instantly terminate the Virtual Desktop because it is the same shortcut as the one for killing the Virtual Desktop.
Conclusion: Poor logic from the developers to make ALT GR + Q / CTRL + ALT + Q the Quick Kill/Panic Button/Terminate shortcut because it is used by Germans to make the @ sign.
As this seems to be reproducible on multiple machines, and due to something similar to a poor choice in shortcuts, I will not require a diagnostics report for the first post.
GregX, can you please look over the first post and let me know if everything looks okay. If everything is correct I will forward this to the devs.
Thank you very much for your report in standard format, with all information supplied. The care you have taken is much appreciated by Comodo, and will increase the likelihood that this bug can be fixed.
Developers may or may not communicate with you in the forum or by PM/IM, depending on time availability and need. Because you have supplied complete information they may be able to replicate and fix the bug without doing so.
The devs have not marked this as Fixed in the tracker. However, sometimes bugs are fixed by the release of new versions, but not marked as Fixed in the tracker.
If you are able please check with the newest version (CIS version 8.0.0.4337) and let me know if this is fixed on your computer with that version.
