Jobs won't schedule - Error

Running 4.2.2.15
Create Backup Job and get the following error when I try to schedule the job: “An error occurred while setting the schedule. The schedule has not been set”
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.
I really want to like this program, but have not been able to get the backups working well for one reason or another since version 2.x.x There’s always ‘something’ that prevents ‘something’ from working.
Is there some service that’s supposed to be running? Task Scheduler is already running. I ran the exe from the admin user. Can’t figure what’s wrong. If I set up and run a one time backup with the same settings then that job runs fine.
Stymied.
