I enter my email address and password but get the following error:
Collection of Secure Email Certificate
Attempting to collect and install your free certificate…
ERROR 438 !!
I can not find any details readarding this error. I have also attempted to request a new certificate I get the message
“A certificate has already been issues for this email address.” which it does!
So I installed the certificate onto a windows XP SP2 PC with IE 7, with the intention of backing up the certificate and restoring this onto the Vista PC. However under IE7 there are No certificates shown under the “personal cerficate” list or in the MMC certificate plugin. However if I try to install the certificate again it states already installed.
Our application processes for email / code sign certs are currently in development to work under Vista. However we haven’t yet been given an ETA on the release of this.
However I can confirm that you can use the XP machine to apply for the email certificate and export this across as a .pfx to the Vista machine.
In your case I would suggest starting fresh. Please visit support.comodo.com and log a ticket to ask to revoke the current email cert.
Once this has been done reapply for the email cert via an XP machine, collect the email cert using the XP machine and as mentioned above export this with the private key as a .pfx file. Please note to select “include all certificates in the certification path” when export this as a .pfx file.
Copy this to the Vista machine run MMC, certificates, computer account, local computer, right click on personal, all task import, select all file types and select the .pfx file you created on the XP machine.
You can now open the IE7 window on Vista; go to tools, internet options, content, certificates, personal and you should see the email certificate locate in this store.
i have sucessfully issued and installed using vista and you just have to follow the prompts when and if requested click yes (B) (B) (B) (B) (B) (L) (L) (M) (R) (S) (:CLP) :BNC :BNC :BNC :■■■■ :■■■■
