Is Huawei a major security risk?? Thirdparty-programs?

Hello!

Got a problem with my new Huawei mobile broadband modem dongle - it might be interesting for others as well …
When I install I saw that it was an unknown file and not digitally signed … (Why. …???)

Then I Googled it a bit and got up the following information:

In Sweden, the employees of Huawei have been subjected to threats, harassment and public punishments.
(Seems to be a rough company.)

Huawei’s Dubious Reputation. The extremely close links between Huawei and the PLA mean That the People’s Liberation Army has DirectAccess to Huawei’s training and technology infrastructure. The cyberwar Units Trained in this environment are now Among the world’s expert in the military applications of network communications and coding.

The Problem. If a PLA protégé firm Acquired an American Firm That provided computer network equipment, software, and services to the U.S. government, The Possibilities of cyber-espionage Would be VIRTUALLY unlimited.

Is Huawei a major security risk - and why should I install unknown files on their computer?

I called my telephone-company and they have no other modems - but tipped off about a third-party firmware or installer.
I could accept a third-party applications with digital signature.

Does anyone have a tip about one such program that fits Huawei E398 4G …???
Any comments at all on this is highly appreciated!

Very grateful for any advice …

Best Regards!

You cannot conclude that programs from a vendor are not trusted because they are not signed.

Proof of this does not mean Huawei may not be trustworthy when it comes to their drivers and applications. It is comparing apples and oranges.

I know that the US checks computers from China to see if they are not having some type of spyware on it.

This is stuff for the intelligence agencies to keep an eye on. Until further notice I can only hope and assume governments and intelligence agencies are protecting us here.

Is Huawei a major security risk -
It it is a risk then I have never heard of it.
and why should I install unknown files on their computer?
Unknown does not automatically mean you can not trust these files. They are simply not on Comodo's white list.

I am not familiar with Huawei products or alternative drivers or firmware for their products because I have never used one or more of their products.
