IP changed, Lost application rules, Help!

My IP drastically changed and all my application rules disappeared! I looked under Network Security Policy and no longer see them.

  1. Can they be recovered?
  2. How can this be prevented in the future in case my IP changes again?

Your IP changing wouldn’t remove your Network Rules, but if your network rules were specific, then your old rules wouldn’t work properly anymore.

Your settings are stored in the registry, so if they are gone, I guess they’re gone for good. But it is wise to export your settings regularly.

That must’ve been it then, although I had no idea that they were specific to anything…

Is it possible to manually grab these settings (from a file) without going through the program?

Is this worth saving? C:\Program Files\COMODO\Firewall\COMODO - Network Security.cfg

If so, I’d be able to include it as part of my automated backups.

You can export them from the registry (regedit.exe) by navigating to

“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations” and exporting, but using CIS’s export utility is easier and i guess more reliable.

No, that will save only the default settings for CFP. Go to:

Misc > Manage My Configurations > Export the config with the check next to it> (Save on desktop or somewhere easy to find)
