Please try reinstalling CIS by following the advice I give in this article. Let me know if reinstalling by following those steps, including running the removal tools in Safe Mode, is able to solve this issue.

I actually fixed the issue by installing the latest graphics driver for my video card and restarting, sorry for making a ruckus! This is solved now, you can close it if you want.
I don’t think it was specific to CIS because my shut down drop-down menu options (sleep, hibernate, restart, etc.) in the start menu were also invisible.
No problem with reporting it. I’m very happy to hear that everything is now working correctly. As you recommended I will now move this to Resolved.
