installation

I had kasperskey antivirus 2008 installed with Comodo free firewall and had no problems. When Kasperskey 2008 ran out I had to uninstall Comodo firewall before installing Kasperskey 2009.When I then tried to reinstall Comodo firewall I got installation failed. I had endless problems with the antivirus and in the end Kasperskey advised me to remove antivirus 2009 and install their antivirus 2010. When I then tried to install Comodo
firewall version 3.10.102363.531_xp_vista_x32.exe the message already installed appeared and I could get no further. There are no icons anywhere for the Comodo firewall and it does not appear in the Windows Add/Remove Programs listing or in any of the program files on C drive . However Windows Security centre gives it as ON and when I do a Search for Comodo it finds 64 files and folders, many in C:\ Documents and Settings etc. I am running Windows xp home edition with sp 1,2 and 3 installed. I have tried other uninstaller programs but none have found anything. I have only a limited knowledge of computer operating systems so any advice on how to proced would be very welcome.

Uninstall CIS and reboot. Then run Comodo System Cleaner to get rid off registry keys.

Then delete the Comodo folders under Program Files, Program Files\Common Files, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ .
For Vista/Win7
Users%username%\appdata\local, Users%username%\appdata\roaming\ and \Users%username%\appdata\local\virtual store

To be even more thorough open Device Manager and set it to show hidden devices under menu option View. Then see if there are Comodo driver(s) left in non Plug and Play drivers. If so select the driver → click right → uninstall and reboot.

Now delete the following:
C:\boot.ini.comodofirewall (this file may not exist).
WARNING: Do not mistakenly remove the original “boot.ini”.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\cmdGuard.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\cmdhlp.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\inspect.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\guard32.dl

*Note: It may not be possible to remove these “LEGACY” keys. If you cannot delete them, leave them in the registry. However, I have subsequently found that you MAY be able to remove these keys in Safe Mode by using a third-party registry tool. To permanently remove them may also require modifying the Permissions for each key.
