I have just downloaded and installed CIS 3.10.xxxx. Because I had several problems with the previous version I did a clean install and have had a lot of bother.
To begin with CIS wouldn’t run at all and I got a message to uninstall it and re-install it. It suggested that I do a DOS command and type cfpconfig.exe -u to uninstall it but when I did that it said that cfpconfig.exe was not a command and on closer inspection I found that that the cfpconfig.exe file was not there. I eventually decided to see what updating it would do by clicking on “Miscellaneous” and then “Update”. After doing that CIS worked but it then said that the antivirus engine was not initialised.
Rather than do anything else I thought that the best thing would be to uninstall it re-download it and then install it but I can’t now uninstall it. It does not figure in Control panel’s “Add/Remove Programs” it doesn’t appear in the list of software in Revo Uninstaller and doing a DOS command produces the same result as before even though cfpconfig.exe is there this time. Clicking on “Miscellaneous” and running “Diagnostics” results in a message to say it has found some problems but that it can’t fix them
How can I completely uninstall it and remove all files and registry entries connected with it before re-installing it? Trying to run the installation file in case it has a “repair” function results in a message saying that it is already installed
Try the following procedure:
Start with exporting your configuration to a folder that is not part of the Comodo folder under Program Files. This way you can restore your configuration after the reinstall.
Uninstall CIS and reboot. Then run [url=http://system-cleaner.comodo.com/]Comodo System Cleaner[/url] to get rid off registry keys.
Then delete the Comodo folders under Program Files, Program Files\Common Files, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ .
Users%username%\appdata\local, Users%username%\appdata\roaming\ and \Users%username%\appdata\local\virtual store
To be even more thorough open Device Manager and set it to show hidden devices under menu option View. Then see if there are Comodo driver(s) left in non Plug and Play drivers. If so select the driver → click right → uninstall and reboot.
Now delete the following:
C:\boot.ini.comodofirewall (this file may not exist).
WARNING: Do not mistakenly remove the original “boot.ini”.
