I run the installer of the new version (last one I think was 5.2.something).
Now after about 15 restarts the installer is at 99%, and 10 restarts later it sill is there and still wants me to restart my computer to continue installation. WTF is wrong with it?

To update from such an old version you should uninstall the old version first.
For failed installs please run this unofficial Uninstaller Tool for Comodo Products then try again.
