Install Comodo Firewall 3.8 - need to use CSC to clean PC to prevent rollback

Installing Comodo Firewall 3.8 - it rolls back at finish of install. Erases files. Can’t use the firewall.

Could you provide some more information?

(e.g. OS, other running security products, etc.)

Are you trying to install on Win 7? Then install in Vista compatibility mode. After reboot set cfpupdat.exe to Vista compatibility mode as well and be good to go.

P III / CPU 1 GHz / 512 MB Rambus Ram Memory
OS: XP Pro SP3

Problem: Comodo Firewall 3.8 - rollback on attempt to install

Antivirus: Esset / NOD32
Firewall: Comodo

Background: CIS_Setup_3.5.57173.439_XP_Vista_x32.exe - was working fine.

Went to Comodo site: downloaded new upgrade Firewall 3.8
Tried installing CIS_Setup_3.8.65951.477_XP_Vista_x32.exe
Manually told to undo files / Msg appeared saying “Rollback”
Firewall rollback / No install
Uninstalled both antivirus / firewall / rebooted / cleaned registry: CCleaner / JV16PT
Tried reinstalling Comodo Firewall saying I’d be a tester
Comodo firewall successfully did system scan
After scan told to manually undo files / Msg appeared saying “Rollback”
Going into Program Files, newly installed Comodo files were erased by rollback

Possibly need to install in XPPro / SP3 mode.....

That’s odd. The only thing I can think of right now is to clean the registry with Comodo System Cleaner as well as Regcleaner.

Are you sure you have admin rights on your system?

Cleaned system with CSC!!! What a tool…554 indepth errors!!!
JV16PT / CCleaner never showed this!!!

Disabled NOD32
Installed Comodo Firewall 3.8
Comodo Firewall 3.8 up and running A+!!!

Thanks for your help!!!

CCleaner is not a thorough cleaner. It is a safe cleaner though. Very well suited for the non technical user or for a quick clean up on another person’s system
