I create a full backup of some files on a network drive (cbu format).
I then try to do an incremental or differential backup based on the full backup baseline.
This fails with error code 5.
It works ok if the full backup is held on the local disc and the incremental is written to the network drive, so it seems to be a problem with opening the full backup (baseline) on the network drive. I can open the full backup on the network drive in restore and in windows explorer.
Any ideas?
Hi
Please follow the steps here to help us determine the cause of the problem:

Hi.
Thanks for the response.
I’ve done what you say and the resulting file Debug.cbu is attached.
I look forward to seeing what you make of it!

Hi
There is a GUI issue with network connection.
To avoid it you can try to export the incremental backup to script (backup step 5) and then run it by double clicking on the script file.
Thanks
Running from a script fails with the same error.
However, I’ve discovered that it runs ok as a scheduled job; but that exposes something else: neither the failed run from script nor the successful run from schedule appear in the history (manage backups page). There is nothing listed for today at all.
Try to add /silentRun parameter. This prevents GUI from opening. In the debug file the network connection gets closed because of a GUI issue.
Our QA team is looking into this issue.
Thanks
I’m having the same problem.
As an additional piece of information, when I attempt a ‘simple file’ copy backup, the first file is copied to the network drive before I get the error message.
Please make sure the access rights allow reading & writing.
Thanks
