Inbound Connection to Browser

After looking at the logs of Comodo Internet Security 6, I noticed an inbound connection to Google Chrome from an unknown IP was blocked. What does this mean? Did someone try to hack me and did CIS 6 prevent it? I have never known of an inbound connection to a browser before…

Without more detail it’s impossible to say. Is there any more information you can provide?

At the time I was on a chat website and the IP came back to a different ISP when I checked it online. Can I post the IP or no?

Unfortunately, the IP address in isolation probably won’t tell us very much. Out of interest, were you using IRC at the time? It might also be worth looking at the extensions/plug-ins you have installed, if any.

I only use Adblock Plus and was on this site: http://omegle.com/ I don’t have malware on my computer as online trusted programs by computer are running on my computer

Were you using the video feature? I don’t use a webcam so I can’t check.

Yea i did but not sure if that makes a difference? Does it?

My quesrion is do you think someone could get your ip from this site and attempt to access your pc? If a person can do that I am glad CIS 6 is on my side

It depends how their webcam application works.

Anything is possible but without more information it’s impossible to say what it was.

Ok but why did CIS 6 block an inbound connection to Google Chrome then and should Chrome even recieve inbound connecions?

I appreciate you would like a definitive answer but without knowing exactly what the inbound request was, no one will be able to tell you. If there’s an entry in the CIS logs you could post the details…

then and should Chrome even recieve inbound connecions?

Typically, browsers don’t need to receive explicit inbound connections. Perhaps you or someone else, who has a webcam, can check what happens when using this service.
