IGMP Protocol Being Blocked Every 2 Seconds? [RESOLVED]

I just upgraded to Version 3.0.14.276 and now I get firewall events being blocked every 2 seconds from my computer (cable modem through a Linsys wired router) to IP address 224.0.0.1.

I realize this is probably not an outside intrusion being blocked, but what the heck is it? Should I create a rule allowing this, as it seems something is trying to get out from my computer…and it sure is being persistent ;D.

Can anybody educate me on this?
Thanks,

Paul

224.0.0.1 is a multicast by your router to everyone on the network to see what is going on. If you trust and only use your own network, you can allow and not log it. Or block and not log it, since you have probably already found out it doesn’t cause you any problems.

Thanks sded,

As you can tell, I’m a real newbie having just converted from Zone Alarm so I need a nudge as to how to go about allowing this. I’m still in learning mode here ;).

Thanks,

Paul

If you want to allow it, does it go from Windows Operating System or System? Go to firewall/advanced/network security policies and add for whatever the source of the messages is (presuming it is udp):
allow/udp/out/any/224.0.0.1/any/any

Got it…thanks. Mark it resolved.
