If the antivirus is set to On Access does it suspend the malware it caught?

I know MSE when it catches something suspends it. Does CAV do the same? I know On Access says “Threats detected before they can do any harm.”

Hello Cheater;

Well, You can set “Automatically quarantine threats found during scanning” and it will automatically automatically lock the threat so it cannot do any harm; with out this checked you’ll be notified when CAV finds a threat.

I know about that but what if its set to let the user decide.

Most, if not all antiviruses, suspend malware and wait user interaction, except for those that automatically deal with malware…
Same with Comodo.

Thanks

Sure thing, no problem bro :-TU :slight_smile:

comodo, specifically, when set to on access, will completely remove known viruses and malware, without user interaction. Completely on it’s own. Often before the files even reach your computer or memory. I’ve tested and witnessed this several times.

LOL. It’s a piece of sofware, not a psychic!!

Until any code exists in a file system or in memory, there is no way an AV of any brand can do anything. The AV is running in the local memory space and can only work with code in the same space.

Not exactly true anymore, welcome to the cloud, DACS and comodo’s dns servers. Maybe even other types of protection. I’m Still trying to get trust connect to work. which should put it’s users behind a proxy thats encrypted 256bit? as well.

I’ve even seen comodo’s software stop various sync packet attacks. as well as various other types of attacks, that don’t exactly run on the pc itself. My isp as well as various others didnt know until after i called them. thanks comodo XD

While it’s true the DNS server detects malicious content on web pages before it is downloaded to your system, the cloud scanner and DACS act on malware in or on your system.

Ummm … that would be the firewall, not the AV. The AV doesn’t monitor or care about the network interfaces. It’s sole focus is what is happening inside the system, not what is attempting to get in. That is the province of the firewall.

Just the same thing was on my comp. I downloaded some warez cracks, started them but suddenly they disappeared in silence. KillSwitch showed nothing alien in RAM. So it must be the work of CIS.

Sometimes those programs just shut down themselves, and not just cracks/keygens, but also legitimate ones like games and older programs… It happens…
