Hi. I am trying to reinstall win7 on a new hdd after the old one died (no life signs at all). I think the machine was 64 bit but how can I be certain? Toshiba satellite C660-15R model no PSC0LE-00L00JEN. I have tried toshiba site but it states 64 & 32 bit. Thanks
With Windows 7 is really depends on the product key you have & what that is for (either x32 or x64).
The first line in the list of specs states:
Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
Yes I know but it also stated elsewhere this model came in 32 bit as well.
As it only takes 15-20 minutes to install W7… install your preferred choice (either x32 or x64) and try the key that you have. If it fails to activate with your key, then try other.
Hi lyn,
You could run Coreinfo from Sysinternals. It will tell you if your CPU supports 64 bit mode.
With the same Windows Key, MS allows you to install either a 32 or 64 bit version of Win 7 without any problem.

Its 64bit Processor. So it support 32/64 bit OS.
Thanks to all. I will try 64 bit install just wanted to know if any harm would be done? Once again valuable & quick advice from the best forum I’m a member of.
