How to stealth Ping reply

I did a test of service ports and common ports scan at GRC Shieldsup and both tests were a failure becuase of the following message:“Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) — Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet. Most personal firewalls can be configured to block, drop, and ignore such ping requests in order to better hide systems from hackers. This is highly recommended since “Ping” is among the oldest and most common methods used to locate systems prior to further exploitation”.

Do you have a router?

Yes, if you are behind a router, the ShieldsUp test is actually probing your router, not your software firewall.

In order to bypass your router, you’d need to set up DMZ on your router. You’ll need to check your routers documentation for the details on how to accomplish this.

Yes, the problem was with my router and I disabled the ping reply in the router settings and redone the shieldsup common port and service port scan and everything is now stealth. :-TU
