How to set up CPF to allow all applications to use a particular port

Hi,

I have set up CPF to be at the ‘high’ alert frequency.

What I would like to do is allow all outgoing applications access to a particular port, say 53 (dns).

I have tried setting this in the network monitor tab, but then i noticed in another topic message that the application monitor has preference over the network monitor. Is there another way to do this?

I am running 2.3.4.45

Thanks, Phil

Hi Phil

I’m guessing you want to open your DNS requests because your having problems (maybe in the form of lots of popups) because you’re running at the high frequency alert level.

I’m not sure if this will help or not. But, you could try turning off Monitor DNS Queries (this can be found under the Security button - Advanced tab - Application Behaviour Analysis - Preferences).

And if that fails then also open up a DNS port under the Network Monitor as well.

This is all a complete guess, I’m afraid.

PS I assume you know that some viruses use the DNS ports.
